The museum of bread
The Museum dedicated to the glory of bread, in the Pechintsi village (Pecinci) of Srem county in Vojvodina Province, has been established in 1995 and was named Jeremija (Yeremiya), after Slobodan Jeremić Jeremija – Jeremy, whose life idea led to the creation of such Museum collection. The Bread Museum is result of numerous years of research and collecting of painter Jeremija, who had dedicated pretty long part of his life to the principle and the role of the Eucharistic bread. According to his idea, the museum represents a street, going from the Earth, via bread, to heaven.
Jeremija
The Bread Museum collection consists of 2000 exhibits and artifacts, divided into the ethnographic, archaeologic and the artistic parts. Besides the Bread Museum in Ulm, Germany, the Bread Museum in Pećinci village destinguishes itself by the rich archive of the feast breads in the Serb culture, from the neolithic period up to the present days, and provides its visitors great opportunity to explore and discover various ancient tools and objects and methods of how the land used to be cultivated by the Serbs. In the Bread Museum are exposed various tools for cultivating land, original objects for wheat and corn processing, tools and objects for bread making, the ancient furnaces and the hearth, around which the whole family used to gather, collection of breads prepared for feasts and festivities....

The centerpiece of this first private museum in Serbia is the collection of models of ritual breads. Most numerous and picturesque are the Christmas loafs, there is a special group of Easter breads, and those baked for the celebration of a patron saint or when mourning. Jeremija made clay molds of the loafs that women made on those occasions. In museum, they are especially proud of two models of Neolithic bread loafs, 8 thousand years old, which were found in a village in Serbia.
At the museum of the bread
This museum is a privat property of Jeremija and his family and they live there. Open hours for visiting Museum: Saturday and Sunday, from 10 am to 5 pm. At the entrance there is a ring bell - an interphone, please use it to call the hosts! Group visits are also organized out of the above visiting hours but with prior announcement. Museum tours are guided. Admission fee: Individual: RSD 250. Groups of children: RSD 200 per child. Museum complex has a resting place, souvenir shop and a large museum parking lot for cars and buses.
