The cache has been placed in the desert located in Riverside
County, appx 1 hour east of Palm Springs, off the 10 freeway near
the town of Indio. I've called the cache Red Canyon ME (Millenium
Edition), because that's the area that it is in, and also because I
placed it there on 1/1/2001.
To get to the trailhead, follow the directions below:
+ Take I-10
+ Exit on Red Cloud Rd.,
+ Turn Right at the stop sign (33 40.62 -115 33.69) and follow the
paved road for .4 miles to the next stop sign.
(From this point on, you will be paralleling the railway track
on unpaved 2-WD roads for approximately 13 miles)
+ Turn left onto Red Cloud Rd (33 40.53 -115 34.06)
+ Follow Red Cloud Rd for 2.2 miles to the 3-way junction
+ Take the middle fork for 3.9 miles to the next junction,
+ Keep left at the junction, crossing over the railway tracks,
and follow Bradshaw Rd for 4.5 miles to a junction. (33 36.24 -115
31.86) + Continue straight on Bradshaw Rd (still paralleling the
tracks)
for 2.4 miles + leave bradshaw trail turning right onto dirt road
at (33 32.75 -115 37.45)
+ continue for appx 1 mile until you get to 33 33.672 -115 37.672
the trailhead will be to your left
Once you reach the trailhead, the stash is about a 30 minute
hike 'upstream'. Just keep following the trail up until it gets a
little rocky, then as you look up towards your right (NE), you
should be able to figure out where it is. It's the only
unnatural-looking natural rock formation in the area
Once you find it, do a little bit of hiking in the area -- if
you enjoy the desert, you'll love this location.
Finally, this area is very popular amongst off-road enthusiasts,
so bring your 4x4, ATV, or anything else you wish to ride out in
the open.
Note: I realized as I was placing the stash that the logbook is
extremely difficult to write in because of the material of the
paper. So, if the first seeker can replace that logbook with a
regular kind, I would appreciate it.
