Geocache Description:

Our hike group was on the last half of a delightful day in the Monte Bello Open Space Preserve and were heading back to the car through the Upper Stevens Creek County Park, when I came upon a neat place for a cache. It’s far enough away from the trailhead that the seeker must take in the beauty of our Santa Cruz mountains.

The closest parking is at the Grizzly Flat trailhead on Skyline Blvd - CA Hwy 35 - (N 37* 17.437, W 122* 9.263). From there it’s a 1000 ft. drop in elevation and about 2 miles to get down to the Stevens Creek crossing. This crossing can be dicey during the winter rain season, so caution is adviseable. From there, you’re on your own!

The cache can also be accessed from the Canyon trail in the Monte Bello OSP. It is about 3.5 miles from the Skyline Ridge parking lot.

The cache is a 4 inch diameter by 6 inch long cylindrical container painted black. It contains a log and the usual type of cache trinkets. It is close to the trail, so no bushwacking is required, and there’s no Poison Oak in the immediate area.
