Salzburg is famous for several great sons and daughters. While exploring this wonderful city, it might be overwhelming to take in all the sights mentioned by your guides. Therefore I suggest you take one step back and take a closer look at the small treasures hiding in plain sight.
History
The building in front of you is with 1,42 meters definitely the tiniest house in Salzburg City. It was installed between 1830 und 1860 to close an alley and first was a scriptorium for the Prince Archbishops of Salzburg. Later it became the office of an optician. Shop and workshop were connected by narrow iron stairs on the back of the house. The grim dragon head on the sloping roof is a gargoyle from the former archiepiscopal stables. Today, the house at Alter Markt 10a is home to a jeweler.

Salzburg ist so reich an großen Namen und Sehenswürdigkeiten, dass man die kleinen Schätze am Weg manchmal schlicht übersieht. Wer hier am Alten Markt neben dem Florianibrunnen steht, sollt sich das Haus mit der Nummer 10a etwas genauer ansehen.
Zur Geschichte:
Das Gebäude misst misst nur 1,42 Meter in der Breite und gehört damit zu den kleinsten Häusern der Welt. In jedem Fall ist es als „kleinstes Haus der Stadt Salzburg“ eine lokale Berühmtheit. Es wurde zwischen 1830 und 1860 in die schmale Gasse zwischen zwei Patrizierhäuser eingefügt und diente den Salzburger Fürsterzbischöfen zunächst als Schreibstube. Bereits 1880 kam ein Optiker in das Haus, den Verkaufsraum im Erdgeschoß und die Werkstatt im ersten Stock verband damals eine schmale Eisentreppe im Hinterhof. Die Dachrinne des schrägen Schindeldaches mündet in einen Drachenkopf, der bereits in den ehemaligen erzbischöflichen Hofstallungen als Wasserspeier diente. Aktuell kann man hier exquisiten Schmuck & Uhren erstehen.

Schritt 1: Mache ein Foto vom kleinsten „Schatz“ in deiner Tasche vor dem kleinsten Haus der Stadt Salzburg im Größenvergleich (siehe Beispiel oben). Bilder von dir selbst mit deinem kleinen Schatz sind gerne erwünscht, allerdings nicht vorgeschrieben. Bilder die lediglich das Haus zeigen qualifizieren sich nicht für einen Log.
Schritt 2: Den Florianibrunnen auf dem Alten Markt umgibt ein schmiedeeisernes Gitter mit reichhaltigen Verzierungen. Wie viele Pferde und pferdeähnliche Wesen sind darauf angebracht?
