The cache is at the listed coordinates, across the road from a small garden of remembrance for the dead of both World Wars, with a sculpture dedicated to the ideal of peace, and a remembrance poppy themed, late Art Deco style, war memorial designed for daily use by the local community as a very practical bus shelter and clock while also acting as a symbol of remembrance. The primary plaque inside the shelter reads:
"Barnards Green War Memorial
1939-1945
Dedicated to the memory of the men
and women who made the supreme sacrifice
in the cause of freedom."
The Grade II listing dating from 2011 claims there is also another secondary plaque inside the shelter reading "Because the war to end all wars didn't", which would be an accurate sentiment... although I confess I've never spotted this secondary plaque and can only see a British Legion plaque in the location where the secondary plaque is supposed to be according to the official listing... so is the secondary inscription a prank, an urban legend, or a missing art treasure? You'll have to decide for yourselves.
