Geocache Description:

Enjoy the rugged side of St. Thomas!!

The following is a preface to the original cache description. This beautiful point was ravaged by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in September of 2017. There are now warning signs about the dangers of waves at the point. Several lives have been lost when people climbed the rocks to see the wave action up close. The signs also ask people to not venture out to the point. We have moved the cache to just next to the parking area where one will not be in violation of the requests. We've replaced the container and log, changed the hint and updated the coordinates to reflect the changes. The views from the parking area are still good and the point in its ruggedness is easily appreciated from this safer vantage point. I've left the original description intact (see below).

This cache is a two-fer.

One - it is relatively easy to get to for those of you who are cruising to St. Thomas.  Simply ask your cab driver to detour to Picaro Point (through Peterborg) on your way to Magens Beach.

Two - This is a gorgeous "locals only" view of St. Thomas.  Bonus - you can see our house (and we can see you ;-) from the cache site.

On your north is Hans Lolick Island - uninhibited except for some European Rabbits and a few other imported fauna.  On your south is Tropaco Point.  In between where you stand and Tropaco Point is Magens Bay - 2 miles to your west is Magens Bay Beach.  Just over Tropaco Point is Hull Bay.  This is a great locals beach with (arguably) the best beach bar on the island!  (Check it out!). To your east are 2 islands - Inner Brass to the south (left) and Outer Brass to the north (right).  Lots of history here as well - but that's another lesson (and future cache?).

Enjoy!!
