Geocache Description:

The cache is located in the Richard Bong State Recreation Area. It is hidden off the Visitor Center trail behind the building. There is a park admission fee of $7 a car for Wisconsin residents (bring your friends or family), $10 a car for non-residents, or it's free if you have a Wisconsin State Park vehicle tag on your car. The park is open from 6 am until 11 pm (nice for you night cachers). There is NO hunting allowed where this cache is hidden.

History, Mythology, and Folklore are full of superstitions about spiders. Some of the more uncommon ones include:
-If a spider crawls toward you, it’s a sign of a quarrel.
-If you run into a spider web, expect to meet a new friend.
-It is lucky to carry a dead spider wrapped in brown paper in your shoe.

There are also many superstitions pertaining to “daddy longlegs.” It is also known as harvest spider, pseudo-spider, and shepherd spider. It is actually not a spider at all, but a relative of scorpions and crabs. The most common superstition about daddy longlegs is that it means good luck and should not be killed.

There are some very bizarre species of spiders in this park. Some have mutated to the point where they could have become a new species. Park Rangers have no explanation for this phenomena.

The cache is not what you think it is, or is it?

Bring something to write with to sign the log. Have fun on your journey.

The Geocache Notification Form has been submitted to and approved by Park Manager John Meyer.
