Geocache Description:

In July 2005 I read an article in the Detroit Free Press chronicling a reporter who accompanied two local caching teams while they hunted a cache located in this park. It looked like a lot of fun so I did a little research and decided I wanted to give it a try. I soon ordered an entry level unit so I wasn't out a lot of money just in case it wasn't for me.

My first cache find was not a typical cache for a beginner Geocaching 101 GCHDKD which I later adopted. A couple of days later I found a few regular caches and I was hooked.

Ironically the park manager also read the same Free Press article I had read. The cache owner had received permission for the cache placement from the previous park manager. However, this park manager wanted nothing to do with caches in "his" parks and demanded they all be pulled. A new cacher (me) and caches pulled from Farmington Hills parks resulted from that article.

Since that time several different cachers have worked with the city to reopen the park to caching. Many thanks to TrailMix8 who recently succeeded in that endeavor.

Please follow the park rules so that we can continue to place caches and enjoy this park. Park is open from 8 am to dusk. Information about the park and a trail map can be found at (visit link)

Cache has been placed with permission from the Heritage Nature Center.

You are looking for an ammo can that I hope will appeal to kids. Please trade even or trade up. UPDATE: The cache container was changed to a lock n lock because the ammo can was stolen.
