Geocache Description:

(The Cache is not at the posted coordinates)

You will be going on a Historical Homes Tour of Bastrop and visiting 12 homes. This will be a walking tour and will require you to walk a little over a mile.

Bastrop's early settlers began arriving around 1804. The town was incorporated in 1837 after many struggles with the Mexican Army and Tonkawa Indians. It soon became a thriving community. The homes on this tour were built in the mid 1800s to early 1900s. They were owned by influential citizens that helped run businesses and develop the city.

There are approximately 100 Nationally Registered Historical Places in Bastrop. There are many other famous settlers that built houses that are spread all over the area. A few other homes not on the tour that may be of interest are: Judge R. Batts, Casino Hall and Gov. Joseph Sayers.
