Note:: When this
cache was originally posted, there was no name posted for this
park. It has subsequently been named "Ken Burns Park" but in order
to minimize confusion, we will keep the original title for this
cache.
Dotted around
this area are numerous small catch basins, sometimes called “lakes”
if they are in the middle of a housing development, that help to
control storm water
runoff. These small
bodies of water seem to spontaneously generate small parks next to
them or around them. And this is a perfect example. On a back
street along a canal is this unnamed park with a 0.3 mile paved
path around a small lake with a fountain. It’s a pleasant place
where you can often see egrets and cormorants fishing. It’s used
mostly by locals walking their dog or looking for a few quiet
moments of peaceful contemplation, so the muggle traffic is
relatively low, with the possible exception of lunch time.
And now the Sudoku
part.
You may have
seen the latest 9-by-9 number-puzzle craze, called
Sudoku. By way of an introduction the
puzzle, below is a mini version that operates on the same principle
but is only 3-by-3. Each row and each column must contain one and
only one occurrence of each of the digits 1 through 3. Finish
filling out the matrix to get numbers assigned to the letters
a-f. I know some folks
don’t like puzzles, but this is real easy.

The full 9-by-9
Sudoku puzzle is similar except that it
uses the digits 1 through 9 and in addition to the column and row
constraints, each of the nine 3-by-3 sections of the larger matrix
must also contain only one occurrence of each digit. Give it a try
– you might find it’s an easy way to get your mind off other
things. Congrats to POJ&MMJ for FTF.
