This is the 4Th in my series of Kayak/canoe launch sites. These caches are intended to take you to locations where you may car top your craft and have easy access to the water.
The cache is a small container with a log sheet and pencil. It is not intended for trade items but mini items will fit. Although in the Town of Westbrook, it is on the Clinton boarder. There is a paved boat ramp but limited free parking for 4 or 5 cars. The river is the Menunketesuck an old Indian name. Westbrook was settled in 1648 as Pochoug, an Indian word meaning "at the confluence of two rivers", the Pochoug and the Menunketesuck, by the residents of the Saybrook Colony. Pochoug was the dwelling place of Obed and his tribe until 1676. The community was incorporated as Third or West Parish in 1724 by an Act of the General Assembly. Westbrook is the birthplace of David Bushnell, the American patriot and inventor of the submarine. It was visited by George Washington in 1776 and by the Marquis de Lafayette in 1824. The river abounds in flora and fauna, is good for fishing and especially abundant in Blue Crabs, my favorite to catch and eat. Just when you think you have wing-it cache hides figured out He throws you a curve ball and makes you think differently. The attributes will be a clue in it self. See you on the river, wing-it.
