Stelzer Summit Traditional Geocache

GPS coordinates are for the center of the Stelzer Summit, a flat dirt area surrounded by large boulders. Enjoy the view of the San Diego River channel the south and the mountains to the north and east. From the center of the summit, on a compass bearing of 310„a magnetic, go 17 paces. This should put you on the top of a large flat rock that has a large crack or split on the northwest side. The crack runs southwest to northeast. Straddle the crack and look at the parking lot down at the ranger station. (Bearing approx. 330„a magnetic) Directly below you is a large rock with black lichens on it. The geocache is on the northwest side of this rock under a ledge. It is a green ammo can and has a cairn of rocks on it.

Please replace the cairn over the ammo can so the casual hiker is not likely to find the cache. Happy hunting!
