smrich: I want to thank everyone that came and found this cache. We had a muggle problem with a little girl that took a few travel bugs and other geo swag from the cache. After leaving several notes for her asking for the items to be returned and finding the notes ripped up and deposited in the cache, we have decided to sadly archive this cache. However, this will give me and opportunity to put another cache in this park, and hopefully we can reincarnate the Fowl Ball container somewhere else.

Geocache Description:

This is a small cache located in one of Edison Township’s parks. We named it after we saw several cardinals and blue jays flying around as we hid the cache.

The cache is located in Yelencsics Park in the Bonhamtown section of the town. The township maintains over 30 parks for recreational use. This park is named after Mr. Anthony M. Yelencsics, who served as the mayor of Edison for almost six four-year terms over a 30 year period. The Yelencsics family’s homestead was built on this land back in 1887. The former house was located next to the upper parking lot and stood there until only a few years ago. This park is also the home the Edison Senior Center. Note: township parks are closed from dusk to dawn.

The park was rebuilt a few years ago. The basketball court, playground, bocci courts, shuffle board courts, horseshoe pits, and the volleyball court were all redone. A short unpaved walking trail was added. This park also has a softball field, a covered pavilion, picnic tables and barbeque pits.

The cache container is an instant coffee container wrapped in camouflage tape. Please examine the way the container is hidden prior to extracting and replace the same way.

When we placed the cache the container was quite full, please be careful removing the items.
