Geocache Description:

I tend to be curious. I guess most cats are.

I made plans to go out paddle boarding on Lake Wilson after work one day, but everyone had left by the time I got there. So I decided to explore on my own.

I headed up the south fork of Lake Wilson to see where it would lead. I found that heading up the south fork is a lot more scenic and serene than heading down towards the dam. Being further away from the road, you can actually hear the birds chattering away around you.  And there’s hardly any litter along the shoreline and in the water. I paddled slowly; taking in the scenery and watching a rainbow form over the lake. And at one point, I just laid down on my board and just let myself float across an open expanse of the lake. It is very peaceful.

If you’re me, you don’t need an excuse to get outside to enjoy nature. But for everyone else who isn’t me, I placed a tiny container with a piece of paper in it for you to sign to entice you to head up the south fork to explore.

There are some caveats to this cache. Do not attempt to grab this cache from the road. It is not a park and grab. It is a float and grab. You will need a paddle board or a kayak to access this cache because you will have to cross a trestle on your way up here. With my paddle board, it was easy to just lift my board over and float across the trestle. Kayaks will require a bit more lift to get it over the trestle but it’s very doable. Don’t attempt to cross the trestle in a boat; you’re likely to get stuck and damage your boat.

Once you approach GZ, it will be a balancing act. As a tiny cat, just a tad over 5 feet tall, I can stand on my board and float under the bridge without hitting my head. If you are taller than a tiny cat, you will hit your head if you are standing up. If you are sitting down, you won’t be able to reach the cache. Unless you have some unusually long arms… So, you will need to find a way to stand on your watercraft and reach up without hitting your head or falling into the water. Unless you like swimming in Lake Wilson, then by all means, jump in, but please try not to drop the cache into the water. Soggy logs are almost impossible to sign. Bring your own writing utensil please. The hint will make sense once you approach GZ and look up.

Now beyond this cache, the stream just keeps going and going and going… I had so much fun exploring that I had to come back just to keep on exploring. Now if you need a reason to keep heading on up the south fork, that can be arranged too… ;-)

Have fun, but cache at your own risk. You are under no obligation to hunt for my caches.
