V pondelí 9.7.1984 odpoledne po 17.hodine projíždel stanicí Úvaly rychlík 524 Becva a pri vjezdu od Kolína v rychlosti 99 km/h v oblouku pred závorami, asi 400m od výpravní budovy vykolejil. Stalo se tak v dusledku vybocení kolejnic teplem. Pátý vuz od konce vlaku se položil na bok, ctvrtý vuz se utrhl a zaboril do šterku, tretí vuz se bokem zastavil o 2. nástupište a v polovine se zlomil. Na nástupišti byly 2 osoby zabity a 8 dalších zraneno.
EN: On a Monday afternoon, July 9, 1984, after 5 p.m. fast train 524 Becva en route from Vsetin to Prague was approaching the Uvaly station from Kolin. Some 400m short of the station building, in a slight right curve before level crossing, the train derailed, at speed of 99km/h (investigation attributed the accident to a rail distortion caused by summer heat). The fifth car from the end of the train was turned over and laid on its side, the fourth car came apart from the rest of the train and plunged into gravel. The third car, broken in half, came to rest with its side on the Platform 2. Of people on the platform two were killed and eight other injured.
Keška se již nenachází na 2.nástupišti, ale na nástupišti prvním. Podíváte-li se ale z 2. nástupiště pres koleje, vlevo od výpravní budovy (která pochází z roku 1912) uvidíte starou budovu z roku 1871. Pres koleje neprecházejte, použijte podchod.
EN: The cache is not located on the Platform 2 anymore, but on platform 1. But if you look from platform 2 over the track to the left of the station building (which dates from 1912), you will see an older 1871 building. Do not cross the rails, use the subway instead.
Ješte jsem tu našel jednu zajímavost - pozustatek z protektorátu Cechy a Morava: na staré budove zhruba uprostred je nivelacní znacka, jejíž text je dvojjazycný - nemecko-ceský. Není na míste prístupném verejnosti, tak tady je alespon na fotce:
EN: I have also found one curiosity - a remnant of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia: on the old building, approximately in the middle, there is a bench-mark with bilingual German-Czech text. As this isn't a place accessible to the public, here is at least a photo of it:
