Geocache Description:

Mt. Defiance is the highest point that directly overlooks the Columbia River Gorge. At an elevation of 4960 feet, it can be quite a climb, especially if you start from Starvation Creek (Exit 54, eastbound on Interstate 84). However, there is an exceptional view from here. The beautiful snow covered mountains, the mighty Columbia River and a great view of the Hood River Valley all make it worth the trip. The cache is at an elevation of only 4895 feet. The cache is about 80 feet off the trail (as the crow flies) but you will have to climb up those rocks but, you've come this far and it really isn't that hard. After all, I made it and I am scared of heights. As you reach the cache site, you will see a brass marker fastened to the rock that says "Skamania County Engineers Department". The cache is 6 feet south of that marker.
