Geocache Description:

I picked up this Marky & Joani ready-made cache (THANKS M&J!), which is a bit larger than a micro, from the first BADGES event. It is not at the posted coordinates, but it is within a mile.

A recently overheard conversation between two Geocachers:

Cachestasher: So tell me Dislocater, why do you do it?
Dislocater: A valid question, Cachestasher. I feel it's my duty to hide caches just a bit better than they were hidden when I found them. And often that means moving them to a better spot.
Cachestasher: Dislocater, with all due respect, I must tell you that I feel a bit put off by your compulsion... Especially when it's one of my caches you're re-stashing.
Dislocater: Seriously, Cachestasher, can't you see that I'm doing you a favor by finding a better hiding spot? Besides, I always make a note of what I've done in the logs.
Cachestasher: Even though you think that what you are doing is helping, you should know that not everyone feels the same way. I know that when my cache gets moved, it's harder to maintain because now I don't know where it's been moved to!
Dislocater: Don't you appreciate the fact that by moving the cache, it'll be more challenging to find?
Cachestasher: Can't say that I appreciate that either, actually. Moving the cache can also throw off the difficulty rating I selected in the first place, it can alter the cache coordinates, it might goof up the theme of the cache, and the clues may no longer apply. Those are all ultimately problems for me and for other cachers. Most folks I've talked to don't like those problems.
Dislocater: Doh! I never thought of that. Good point... But what about the muggles? Sometimes I find these caches are so exposed, that muggles could easily find the cache. We do want to avoid plundering, right?
Cachestasher: I can see your point on this one. Some caches obviously become exposed over time when natural camouflage materials blow away, flow away, etc. Replacing the camouflage materials and notifying the owner still seems more appropriate than simply moving the cache, though.
Dislocater: Don't move the cache, stick to how it was hidden in the first place, and let the cache owner know of issues... I see. But I still think my hiding techniques and ideas are pretty clever and often better.
Cachestasher: Look at it this way, Dislocater. People put a lot of thought and effort into their caches, and they are responsible for maintaining them. In a way, by moving them you're saying you could have done it better and you're diminishing their pride of ownership. You can always hide your own caches to show off your clever skills!
Dislocater: Can't disagree when I see it from that point of view...
Cachestasher: Enough talk about this anyway! You want to go find some caches together?
Dislocater: Absolutely! I was just about to ask you the same question.
Cachestasher: Thanks for hearing me out. Hey, GCHYNN looks like a fun one...
