***UPDATE Aug 29/22 *** This is a bit of a quiet area tucked away from the bustle of Granville Island. Originally it featured a lovely fountain and pond that did not have squealing children running through it. Granville Island has recently rearranged the "furniture" and done some painting & remodelling. An historic sculpture has recently been installed very close by. There are two interesting manmade objects that are now green and yellow, close together. The cache is hidden in one of them, in the end that is pointing East, towards the people. Go low and do a quick reach around inside to find the magnetic tin.

ABOUT GRANVILLE ISLAND Granville Island is located on False Creek. When Vancouver was first born, the "creek" went all the way east to Clark Drive, and at high tide, almost reached Burrard Inlet. Various reclamation projects reduced its size to what it is today.

This is a man-made island created after the construction of the second Granville St Bridge in 1909. The island was built from sand dredged from the creek. Granville Island, along with the rest of False Creek was home to heavy industry. It was not a pleasant place. The creek itself was a toxic stew of nasty chemicals.

Fast forward to the 1970’s when the Island was rediscovered and artists took up residence, then a couple of restaurants opened. When the Public Market opened in 1979, the island became a destination for locals and visitors from around the world. Two industrial tenants remain – Ocean Construction Ltd. – on the island for over 80 years - which has the most patient truck drivers on the planet who drive on and off the island constantly; and Micon Industries – resident since the 1960s.

Expo 86 was the catalyst for the revitalization of False Creek to the beautiful, people friendly spot it is today. The cache is next to one of the remaining industries on the island. Be sure to check out the kinetic sculpture along the road to the east of the cache. This will also give you a great view of the "Giants" artwork on the silos. Try to figure out the purpose of the item acting as cammo for the cache! In Nov, 2021 the sculpture "The Family" was installed on this spot. For more information see this article HERE
