Geocache Description:

A cache is placed near the Tofukuji Temple.

Tofukuji was established in AD1255, which took 19 years to complete. The vast premises of the temple spans from hill side of Higashiyama mountain and over a beautiful valley with maple trees. The temple is visited by a lot of tourists for its old fine arts and architectures, many of which have been designated as important cultural assets and national treasures. They include old paintings, sculptures, calligraphy and literatures in periods of Kamakura and Muromachi.

The temple is exceptionally gorgeous when it becomes the season of maple red leaves in autumn. There is a bridge called Gaunkyo spanning over the maple valley --- the view from the bridge is nothing but breath-taking. (By the way, the Gaunkyo bridge itself is one of important cultural assets )

A small magnetic cache is hidden near the Gaunkyo bridge and is accessible from the perimeter road.

Enjoy!!
