Geocache Description:

Monolith View is one of over 30 caches along the Outback Way-finder Trial - the longest Geocache Trail in the world.

G'day Geocachers,
Monolith View is located on a dune rise with extraordinary panoramic views. Mt Conner to the south-west is one of three great monoliths of Central Australia - along with Uluru and Kata Tjuta. It is flat-topped and horse-shoe shaped with an elevation to 762m above sea level. There is an 'apron' of loose rock around the base to about 150m but climbing is technically 'easy with care'. Mt Conner is on Curtin Springs Station and can be visited with permission - individually or on a tour.
The great shimmering white salt lake system to the north is part of an extensive inland basin, a remnant of the once inland sea, that includes Lake Amadeus and extends eastward to the Stuart Highway. The lake system fills to a few centimetres following rain events but is generally dry salt crystals.
The dune ridge is a fragile landscape. Please use care when searching for the cache.

Activity: Arrange a visit to Mt Conner - view local wildlife and marvel at a majestic sunset from the comfort of an Aussie bush camp.
