Il cavallo di Leonardo
Leonardo è nato a Vinci, vicino a Firenze, il 15 Aprile 1452. Era il figlio illegittimo di un avvocato fiorentino e di una giovane donna. Fu allevato nella casa paterna sino all'età di 15 anni, quando divenne apprendista del maestro
Andrea del Verrochio.
Intorno al 1482 Leonardo entrò al servizio del duca di Milano,
Ludovico Sforza, dopo avergli scritto una fantastica lettera nella quale si dichiarava capace di costruire ponti mobili, di conoscere le tecniche per la costruzione delle bombe e dei cannoni, di essere in grado di costruire sia navi che 'carri armati', catapulte e altre macchine da guerra e che poteva fare sculture in marmo, bronzo e in argilla. Fu l'ingegnere capo in numerose campagne militari del duca e fu anche un attivissimo architetto.
Durante la sua permanenza a Milano, Leonardo
progettò una enorme statua di bronzo di Francesco Sforza, l'allora signore della città, che cavalcava un cavallo. Creò il modello del cavallo, ma la guerra lo costrinse ad abbandonare tale progetto, lasciando solo i suoi schizzi.
Durante gli anni 70,
Charles Dent, un ex-pilota statunitense, creò una fondazione per costruire il cavallo, partendo proprio dagli scizzi di Leonardo. Sfortunatamente non riuscì a vedere il cavallo completo perchè morì nel 1994. Solo 5 anni più tardi, nel 1999, l'enorme cavallo fu completato e donato alla città, diventanto il simbolo dell'Ippodromo di Milano.
Il cache originale è stato nascosto da Markino nell'agosto del 2004. Due anni dopo Atanasio lo ha sostituito e ha provveduto a lungo alla sua manutenzione. Ora il cache è stato adottato da noi (The 'Nicole' Team) e inserito all'interno dell'itinerario Milano Curiosa con il permesso del proprietario originale.
Note sul cache:
Si tratta di un microcontenitore magnetico contenente il solo logbook (quindi ricordatevi di portare la penna). Si trova molto vicino all'ingresso dell'Ippodromo (dove si trova la statua) e su uno dei percorsi di accesso allo Stadio Meazza, pertanto nelle giornate delle partite la zona può essere estremamente trafficata, pertanto fate molta attenzione.
E' superfluo sottolineare di rimettere il cache nella stessa identica posizione in cui lo avete trovato.

The horse of Leanoardo
Leonardo was born in Vinci, near Florence, on April 15th 1452. He was the illegitimate son of a Florentine lawyer and a young country girl. He was brought up in his father's house and around the age of 15 was apprenticed to the artist
Andrea del Verrochio.
Nel 1482 Leonardo entered the service of the duke of Milan,
Ludovico Sforza, having written him an astonishing letter in which he stated that he could build portable bridges, he knew the techniques of constructing bombardments and of making cannons, he could build ships as well as armored vehicles, catapults, and other war machines and that he could execute sculpture in marble, bronze, and clay. He served as principal engineer in the duke's numerous military enterprises and was active also as an architect.
During his stay in Milan, Leonardo
planned an enormous bronze statue of Francesco Sforza, the ruler of the city at that time, riding a horse. He created a model of the horse, but the war came and he had to abandon the project, leaving just his sketches.
During the seventies,
Charles Dent, a former US air pilot, made a foundation to build the horse using just Leonardo’s sketches. Unfortunately he couldn't see the horse completed, because he died in 1994. Only five years later, in 1999, the majestic horse was terminated and donated to the city of Milan and became the distinctive sign of the Ippodromo of Milan.
The original cache has been hidden by Markino on August 2004. Two years after Atanasio replaced it and has handled the maintenance for a long period of time. Now the cache has been adopted by us (The 'Nicole' Team) and it has been inserted as part of the itinerary "Milano Curiosa" with the original owner's permission.
Notes on the cache:
We are talking of a magnetic microcontainer containing only the logbook (so please remember to bring your own pen). It is very close to the entrance of the Ippodromo (where the statue is located) and on one of the path to reach the Meazza Stadium, so when there are football (soccer) games the area could be extremely crowded so, please, pay extra attention....
It is not necessarily to say put it back in the same position you have found it.
