Geocache Description:

What: A 4th of July Picnic Event

Where: Lake Meridian Park, Kent, WA

When: 7:30 p.m., Sunday, July 4

Who: Here's your NW cedar log:

This is a meet and greet picnic event and a night cap to the GeoWoodstock VIII weekend. The City of Kent does a good fireworks display over the lake with a small town feel but without the crowds and traffic of Seattle or Renton.

Whether you're traveling back home from the weekend festivities or you live around the corner, this Event is for you! We're going to be gathering on a grassy area in Lake Meridian Park to enjoy a picnic dinner. So bring your blankets, folding chairs, and a take-out meal. Bring something to eat from home or a to-go bag from your favorite restaurant then meet here with other Geocachers to share your weekend stories.

Then, if you decide to stay, you'll be in perfect viewing position for some fireworks. Since this is one of the most popular spots for the fireworks, parking can be tricky. You may get a spot right away, or you may have to walk a bit. We'll try to be as close to these coords as possible, and make it obvious who we are (look for the geocaching logo!). Fireworks start about 10pm.

If you aren't staying for the fireworks here at Kent's 2010 Fourth of July Splash, other activites in the area include Night Caches, or you might attend one of the other cities' events before or after this meet and greet, such as those in Des Moines at the marina, Federal Way, or Renton.

The difficulty and terrain rating is due to the planning ahead and the distance one may have to walk to attend this event and get there on time. Wherever you park, mark your parking coordinates on your GPS and bring a flashlight just in case for the return trip.
