Geocache Description:

Jesse James Cache Bash 2

text describing the image
Early bird gets the worm (or FTF) as we will release 15 or so new caches on Friday afternoon in case you want to come in early and get in some caching before our planned activities on Game day!

Please come early (Friday night or early Saturday morning) to do the Friday night earlybird releases (17) as we will not use those in the games. However, we have 12 to release Saturday night or Sunday morning we will be using with the games so you will have to wait for the games to get these coordinates. Bring rain gear as it is waiting for us to hold this event to rain. Lets hope it does not but weather changes constantly here so expect anything. The event will go on. Lots of prizes. We have parking off street behind the museum (south) and lots of street parking all around the park across the street. I will mention too we have a table for "coins for discovery only" another table for "coins for trade or moving on" and a table for "coins for sale" so please go accordingly. You will be released to do the games and caches after lunch and then come back to get prizes, try strongbox keys, and door prizes. Then it can rain later that night!

Pony Express Cache Raiders will host the Jesse James Cache Bash 2 again this year on Sept 26, 2009. We will have it in St Joseph this year at the listed coords (aka the Pony Express Stables Museum). It is handicap accessible for the event. Some caches may not be handicap accessible that are in the games, etc.

On September 25, we will release 15 new geocaches in the area for folks who come early and/or spend the night. These will be published at about 3 PM on that Friday. A printed list of the early bird caches can be obtained from most any of the Pony Express Cache Raiders or posted at the motels or Tourist Information Center (TIC).

text describing the imagethe AMAZING CHASE

This year we will have new games, new prizes, new menu, new location, and new fun (with a twist). However, we hope to enjoy the same atmosphere, geocachers, and excitingly good times as we had last year in Savannah. For all of the attendees last year, you know how ample the prizes were, how good the food was, and how much fun the games generated so spread the word. Be prepared for announcements as time draws closer for specifics on this event but you can be guaranteed a great time.

Pony Express Stables Museum will have free admission on Friday (25th) and Saturday (26th) for our event attendees by mentioning you are with the geocaching event.

We have room blocks for the night of the 25th and 26th at both Stoney Creek Inn ($75 per night) and Ramada Inn ($72 per night) in case you choose to spend a night (or two) to do all the area cache offerings. These special prices will be honored if you tell them you are here for the geocaching event. These reservations should be made directly to the motel by September 3, 2009 for the Ramada Inn and August 25, 2009 for Stoney Creek or they will no longer be held for us.

Shirts will be offered again this year with the same travel bug design on the back but a new design on the front. Please see photos for examples.

Pre order shirts for $10 for Kids sizes to XL and $12 for 2XL to 4XL. Checks will need to be sent to JJCB Shirts at 18320 Hwy 71, St Joseph, MO 64505 with a note to show number of shirts ordered and sizes desired. Please order by September 14th to guarantee delivery at the event.

Food for the picnic has been finalized and will include meals prepared for you so no side dishes need to be brought this year! We will have a large outdoor grill going for Hot dogs, Chicken, or Pulled Pork sandwiches. Side dishes of baked beans, cole slaw, pasta salad and more. We will again provide ice cold bottled water and probably iced tea. Desert will also be included. Cost for the meal is $8 for adults, $4 for kids (12 and under) and 0-3 year-olds eating free.

Games will be based on the television show Amazing Race so be ready for a fun trip around our Western "World" in order to get a key (or two) for the highly sought after "Jesse James Strongbox" full of wonderful treasures again this year. Other prizes can be won during the games as well. Full details will be passed out on the day of the event.
