Here is a statue in honour of Henry Pease, MP for South Durham, a quaker and Victorian industrialist who owned ironstone mines and helped build the Stockton and Darlington railway. He also owned water companies and brick works.

He is described as a man of energy and imagination who realised a vision and built Saltburn.
