The 56th Fighter Group Squadron was the top-scoring Republic P-47 Thunderbolt group during World War II, and recorded the second-highest number of air-to-air kills of any USAAF fighter group. The 56th also claimed 311 fighters destroyed on the ground.
When it was open, the 56th Fighter Group restaurant transported you back to an era of Big Band music and unparalleled patriotism. This charming 1917 French Style Allied Headquarters farmhouse sits on the site where the P47 fighter aircraft was built during WWII. The 56th used to be the "the place" to to be and be seen in the 80's and 90's. Memories of a great place to eat, drink and dance have been boarded up forever. You are looking for the downfall of the fighter "Wolverine".
After finding the cache, please set up this one back the way you found it (you'll know what I mean)
I urge you not to try this one at night. The Republic airport tower overlooks GZ and if the controllers see flashlights flickering, they may call the state police (who have their Troop L Headquarters .... right there!) Also note that this is one that could go awry, so if it does, just send me a message.
