On the 14th July 1799, Lieutenant Matthew Flinders In the sloop, "Norfolk" was the first explorer to enter Moreton Bay. He charted the bay islands and noted a distant high peak.
Here is your chance to find that 'distant high peak'
An Invigorating 4 - 5 hour return walk - 550m vertical climb.
Some minor scrambling - not difficult or exposed.
Do this walk very early or in the cooler months.
Don't go alone and take 2 litres of water per person.
Start at the picnic area at the end of Mt Flinders road (same point as Charlie D's 'Flinders fun').
Toilets water and BBQ's provided.
Follow the track past the notice board and a most intriguing sign and then up and up and up the spur.
Carpark/picnic area is closed from dusk till dawn and at times of high fire danger.
It is a bit surprising to see the amount of equipment up the top, but the views are excellent.
Note that there is a vistors book in a PVC tube hanging in a tree - this is not the cache.
Cache is a smallish plastic bottle with screw cap lid - it can be found in a crevice at the foot of a small (2.5m) cliff about 10-15m east of the helicopter pad. You will need to lift a rock to see the cache.
Enjoy
