Pull off the Parks Highway into the Denali Viewpoint North
parking lot and savor the view, eat a picnic lunch, or pitch camp
and spend the night. This location is on a bluff above the Chulitna
River and affords knock-out views of the Alaska Range's Mooses
Tooth, Mount Huntington, and Denali to the west and the Kesugi
Ridge to the east. Just one mile north up the highway is the Little
Coal Creek Trail which provides the quickest and easiest access to
alpine (above treeline) country for unobstructed views of the
Chulitna River and the Alaska Range.
The cache name was derived from all the bald eagles seen riding
the updrafts coming up and over the Chulitna River Bluff on the
afternoon we hid this cache.
The cache contains a variety of outdoor and fishing oriented
trade goods as well as some kids' toys in an ammo can.
Due to a high bear presence in Denali State Park, no food or
odiferous items should be left in the cache.
A special use permit from Alaska State Parks to place this cache
within Denali State Park has been obtained.
