Geocache Description:


This is a fairly easy cache located at Henrhyd Falls, just off the A-4067 near Ynys Wen (about 2 miles from Dan-Yr-Ogof Caves). There's a car park & picnic site at the top. You have to climb down the very steep (and sometimes hazardous) path to the bottom of the gorge to see the falls, but it's worth it. You can actually walk right behind the Waterfall. At 90ft high the waterfall is the highest waterfall in the Brecon Beacons National Park.

The falls themselves boast their very own ghost story. Back in the 30’s a group of youthful boys clambered down the gorge to swim in the pool underneath the falls. One of the boys decided to be valiant and jump from the ledge behind the falls into the pool below. Misfortune struck when he hit his head on the rocks and was killed instantly. To this day, people swimming in the pool feel a hand grab at their ankle as they climb out of the pool…
