Geocache Description:

ATTENTION! A PART OF THE CLUES FOR THIS CACHE MAY CURRENTLY NOT BE AVAILABLE DUE TO AN EXHIBITION IN THE FITZWILLIAM MUSEUM! PLEASE CONTACT THE CO IF YOU NEED HELP!

This cache is a virtual replacement in spirit for the now-defunct World Cache. This can optionally be played as a a cooperation cache designed, a team event with the team consisting of a member in each of six countries. The optional part is written in italic type. Due to popular request, the optional part is now featured in separate bonus cache - a mystery with a physical container, thanks to benjw!

This cache is about objects that have been collected from abroad, and brought to museums in Cambridge (disclaimer: we do not generally endorse exporting artifacts):

The Fitzwilliam Museum and The Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology . All Cambridge University Museums are free of charge, though donations are appreciated. They are usually open Tuesday till Sunday - please check websites for the opening times. You can cycle or use public transport directly to the museums. The nearest parking facilities are within 500 m, though driving through the centre of Cambridge cannot be recommended. This cache is also suitable as a tourist cache, given you have made appropriate contacts and preparations. If you are visiting Cambridge from a country not yet represented by an object, let us know if you would like to join the World Cache Friends Network!

ATTENTION: Please check if the museums are open due to COVID-19-related restrictions in place.

The objects, where they came from and related cache pages:
Australia: ??? by Brad&Janet
France: A Clock by Les Pandas
The Netherlands: A Tulipiere by Vooruit! ATTENTION: THE OBJECT HAS BEEN RECENTLY CHANGED, THE OLD INFO STILL WORKS
Portugal: A Cruzado by Jocasife (this object can be found in a side gallery)
The United States of America: A Navajo Rug by Maxand99

What you need to do:
• Look up the questions about the objects on the cache pages from abroad
• Go to the museums, locate the objects
• Send a message or email to the Datenkaros answering the questions about all objects.
• You do no need to wait for a log permit, but logs without correctly answered questions will be deleted.

• After having successfully logged, please delete your team request log. The cache owners will also delete team request logs for successful teams.

Optional: The procedure described above is not how the cache was originally intended by the owner(s), as we had planned to intensify international cooperation a bit more than this. To go for the proper challenge, you need to get into contact with fellow cachers around the world who are well-located to find the physical caches (e.g. by forums, emails, or post a log that you are looking for partners on the cache pages - but don't forget to delete them once you have found somebody).

E.g. if you had a caching partner in East Frisia, and the East Frisian Object in the Fitzwilliam Museum is a Lump of Sugar, it would go like this:
-Cacher in East Frisia: Reads cache description, and asks Cambridge partner to send them the information about the sugar.
-Cacher in Cambridge: Goes to museum, finds sugar, sends information to partner. E.g. if it asked about the number of the lump in the display case (e.g. 42), and what it is called (e.g. Kluntje).
-Cacher in East Frisia: Uses information to get hidden email address. Writes email to the address in the format defined by the cache listing (e.g. kluntje.42@cam.ac.uk) and gets an autoresponder message giving information leading to the coordinates. The East Frisian cacher seeks the cache at the coordinates from email, sends the secret code word in the cache to the partner in Cambridge, and logs the East Frisian cache as found.
-Cacher in Cambridge: Notes down the secret code, and sends an email or message to Datenkaros containing all the code words found by in the caches abroad, logs the cache plus optional part and gets virtual pat on the back (at least for now).

Congratulations to shadyone44 for FTF (both virtual and bonus) and jollyquest for STF, and Irisisleuk and GCZ team for finding the virtual as well as helping to find the caches abroad!
More optional: Write or print a team logo or name and take a photo of it and/or of yourself/your GPSr/your avatar/dog/cat etc. in or in front of the portal of the Fitzwilliam Museum, and/or the other cache locations. Upload it with your log.

We know it might not be easy to find fellow cachers from all places of interest, but this cache is also designed to provide some exercise in international relations and cultural diplomacy (if you are interested).

Good luck! Succes! Bonne chance! Boa sorte!
