Arbre de beurre d'arachide / Peanut butter tree Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

alynx: Unfortunately a new development near the REM has cleared more land at the new GZ. 50m further west and the cache would have been safe. Remnants were visible in the snow and I managed to retrieve the log book, but there is no saving the cache this time. Thanks to everyone who visited and especially those that gave a favorite point.

Geocache Description:

The legend of the peanut butter tree

Grandpa, where does peanut butter come from?

Well, most people think peanut butter comes from the grocery store or by crushing up some peanuts, but I’ll tell you a most extraordinary story. If you take a peanut and plant it in just the right spot, not too much in the sun, and hidden from people, you can get a peanut butter tree to start growing. You have to wait maybe three or four years before you can even tell it’s a peanut butter tree. It’s branches will spread out as it starts growing. Little by little small leaves appear. The leaves are a strange shape, hollow at first, with maybe a nut or two inside. They grow bigger and bigger and take all different shapes but always with something inside. Sometimes even another leaf.

And that’s where peanut butter comes from?

You have to pick carefully to get just the right one. It could be what you want is inside the smallest leaf. It could be in the biggest. It might even change from time to time. But when you find what you are looking for, you will taste the finest peanut butter and be very happy.

Grandpa, can we look for the peanut butter tree?

Of course we can. I know exactly where to look.
