This is Austin's only roving
cache. The person who finds it gets to take it and place it
somewhere else in Austin. I will update the map to the right
on a regular basis to show its movements around town. As of
2007-01-04 the rock has moved 5045 miles in 542 placements.
Thank to
HiDude_98 for these stats and the maps. HiDude_98's
map shows the placements over the past 4 years. Click on it for a
closer look.
There are three rules you need to follow when going after this
cache:
- When you find it, you must take it.
- You must place it again the same day that you find it. Please
keep it in the Austin area. Defined by me as 20miles in any
direction from the Capitol Dome at N30 16.479 W97 44.4348. Anywhere
on the map to the right will be within a 20 mile radius. That's a
fairly good sized playground.
- You must log on to geocaching.com as soon as possible to
report your find and give updated coordinates of its new position.
If you don't do this nobody else will be able to find it.
You are allowed to report a find for each time you find it if
it's in a different position than when you found it last.
Be creative when placing it. I'd like to see lots of creative
'urban' placements. It should fit in almost anywhere with a bit of
imagination. Also, take photos of your placement if you can.
The cache is camoflaged and should fit in almost anywhere in the
Austin area. There is a microcache attached to the cache itself
that contains a small logbook and pencil. Please let me know if it
needs replacement. I have lots.
