Frog in a Suitcase (Auckland) Traditional Geocache

Originally built in 1925 for the Nathan family, the iconic Homestead has been kept in its original state. Set in nine acres of gardens and lawns, it was bought by Manukau City Council in 1982 and is now the home of the Manurewa Community Arts Centre. The mysterious disused tower is actually a water tower — the Nathan family formerly owned a wooden home which burned down in 1923, the family themselves only just escaping with their lives. One of their reasons for construction of the tower was to ensure there was enough water available should their property ever be threatened by fire in the future.
