Geocache Description:

St Mary and St Lawrence Church.

It’s a fine light and spacious church, unusually wide for a Norman church, with a wonderful acoustic for music. The angels on the early 16th century roof beams gaze down on even more ancient pews, fine glass and wood carvings, and on the tomb of the Everard family with their little children. There's Roman brick in the tower, castellated side aisles and tower, and the heaviest set of 8 bells in Essex. The church is set in a beautiful churchyard with several other ancient and important buildings around.

The main entrance to the church is on a most acute corner therefore we request cachers park at the parking waypoint given.

The cordinates listed above are for an entrance to the churchyard. The cache is not located there.

Information from four simple clues is needed to obtain the final co-ordinates for the cache. Please stick to the footpaths around the church.

1. Two members of the Gostling family are buried in a grave at the rear of the church. Take the age of the second from the age of the first listed = BC

2. The clock on the tower has a date = 18D2

3. The lych gate was built in WXYZ. X – W – Y – Z = A

4. At the parking co-ordinates you are outside a beautiful house lived in by the Badyngham’s in 1EF1

The final co-ordinates are

N 51. 47 ABC minus six E000. 27. DEF minus 22

If anybody would like to expand on this series please do so. Could you please let sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication.
