This is a Cache that is located at the Monte Vista Townsite in an antique container.
This is going to be a cache that you will all love finding! It's on the way to Five Finger Falls in the forest of Nisene Marks.
Monte Vista (#2) is a old townsite that the railroad went out to. It was in operation for only 11 years before a storm stopped the operation. There is rich history behind the place and in the cache, a nice pamphlet I included to tell you about it.
When placing the cache, I hiked up in the creek all the way from the Bottom of the Incline. Let me just say that for a train to even get up there is unbelievable! In one place, the train had to use a 280 foot long trestle to wind through the canyon. Also on that route, you will see old trestle support beams still in tact, but you need to do a heck of a lot of hiking up log jams. As you know, the trail washed out over on the way (if you start from the Bottom of the Incline). I would not suggest going either way (up the creek or the trail) because you're in for a tough time. The best way is to take a bike up to White's Lagoon and then go down the Big Slide Trail.
Monte Vista is full of rich history and after my cache, you will keep going along the main trail and find a rail sticking up right next to the trail. There is a stump to your right and different objects. I found them using a metal detector. If anyone can get the coordinates for this, please let me know so I can make it as a waypoint.
