VOR & VORTAC: "Very High Frequency Omnidirectional Range"

NDBs : "Non Directional radio Beacon"

(OM)"Outer Markers"

(MM)"Middle Markers"

(IM)"Inner Marker"

(RP) IFR Reporting pionts: You can locate them on High/low altitude IFR charts. Find the spot on the ground and score a find.

Have you ever wanted to know how aircraft navigated in 0ft visibility before GPS? Have you ever wanted to know where on the ground a Nav/aid was located? Here is your chance to log a find of a Nav/Aid. I am also looking for intersections and or reporting check points on the ground of Low and High altitude Federal airways. Here is a source that might help you AirNav: Navaid Information

"Warning"

Some Nav/aids are on private land, atop of mountains, at airports, on top of building, on Islands, Most have a fence around tower. Use common sense, sometimes you can not get very close to the nav/aid. You may use the published coords and or your own, depending on the placement of the NAV/AID. I will except any log that shows you and the NAV/AID in the forground

This is a locationless Geocache. Please post any nice bits of info that you learn when you went out to look for the cache.

Rules:

  1. First words of your log must be the type of "nav/aid", or "Reporting check point" and ID
  2. Give the coords of your cache find
  3. Post a picture of you and the physical ground base nav/aid in the back or foreground
  4. If it is a Intersection or Reporting point, take a picture of you and the general area with coords.
  5. One log per person, each location can be logged only once.
  6. If you do not have a camera and have a cache in mind post the required info, you have one week to post a picture or it will be up for grabs.
