Saxon Hoard

According to the Anglo Saxon Chronicle Saxons led by their ruler Aelle landed in Sussex in 477. The Celts resisted them bitterly but after about 15 years the Saxons had conquered all of Sussex. They gave the county its name. It was the kingdom of the south Saxons

At around the beginning of the 6th Century Saxons landed in western Hampshire. They founded the kingdom of Wessex (the West Saxons)

A nice Saxon hoard would include silver coins and many other silver items.
