Geocache Description:

This Educational Event (EduVent) is brought to you by the members of: GeocacheAlaska!

Working hard to promote Geocaching in Alaska! Please join us today!

Meet fellow geocachers and learn all about Finding Caches from experienced geocachers on Thursday, September 29, beginning at 6:50 p.m., at a private residence outside of Soldotna (Gaswell Road to Jones Road to Scotch Run to the published coordinates). Allergy note - There are a number of very friendly dogs and cats at this residence.

Tonight's speaker is NorthWes, who will be delivering this fast-paced cache finding presentation from the Anchorage site.

Some of the topics to be discussed at this EduVent include:

  • Getting to Ground Zero (GZ)
  • Sizing up the Hide Area
  • The GZ Circle of Accuracy
  • Why you should Read the Cache Listing
  • Hints and Past Logs
  • Alternate Coordinates
  • What if you Can't Find It?
  • Logging your Find
  • Tools of the Trade
  • Caching Pack Inventory

This event is a live link via WebEx of event sites in Anchorage, Soldotna, Valdez and Cordova.

Please post a "Will Attend" log on this event page to stay appraised of the final details. If we need to make any announcements about this event, all registered attendees will automatically receive an email copy of those announcements via the email you have registered with your Geocaching.com account. Adding a "Will Attend" log to this page will also assure enough hard copy handouts are printed for the event participants.

Please arrive on time so upfront administrative details can be handled and announcements made, allowing the course content to start precisely at 7:00 p.m. (or 1900hrs if you prefer). Also, please bring your favorite nonalcoholic beverage and favorite dessert to share with your fellow cachers.

There will be a free-will offering cache container at the event to help defray the costs of hosting these FUNdamentals events if you would like to make a donation.

If you would like to host future presentations like this one elsewhere in Alaska, please contact Education Committee Chair & GeAK WebMaster, SSO JOAT.
