Can you imagine a dark coloured belfry with a whitewashed church, with geranium, and fretwork? I would like to invite you to Takos, the heart of the Bereg.
Takos is a wonderful place, but it is even more wonderful from the last time i have seen. You can reach it from Nyíregyháza, follow road No. 41. It is about 60 kms.
The cache is inside the church, you need to ask the matron, for it. She lives 200m from there, at Bajcsy street 29, tel: +36 45 701 718. The entrance fee is 120 Ft (half euro). The opening hours are 7am-7pm every day, except sunday at 11, at church service.
The church was built at 1766, with its charmingly hand made, and painted ceiling, and furnitures. The church called barefooted Notredame, because the floor is packed soil.
The famous part of it, is the coffer, that contain 58 pieces. We cant find two similar from the flower patterned ceiling. Ferenc, Asztalos Lándor made it.
God's table stand on a millstone. The light beam in the church going around every day. On the 24th of december it spot to the "turul" bird (like eagle), the hungarian's special animal.
In 2001, the Tisza floaded all the village, and 134 houses must be rebuilt. The cross seed of embroidery of Bereg is well known.
