Bicentennial Park in Meadville provides good access to French Creek. In the summer when the creek is very low, you can wade into the creek to look for crayfish, aquatic insects, mussels, fish, etc.
This cache is maintained by Creek Connections, an environmental education project at Allegheny College in Meadville, pA. At the heart of Creek Connections is a collaboration between the
college and teachers in western Pennsylvania and New York for the
purpose of encouraging natural science education through hands-on
field and laboratory experiences. Allegheny College faculty and
students provide the framework and assistance for school-based
investigative research in regional watersheds. Emphasizing a
hands-on, inquiry based investigation of local waterways, this
project annually involves over 40 different secondary schools and
