Geocache Description:

pasarela

Cartierul Grivița din prezent s-a dezvoltat in jurul acestor ateliere.

Want to escape for a few moments from the crowded city and too many cars? This geocache is dreaming of long journeys on railroads. And from its suspended hideaway you can watch the trains going places just below your feet...

The pedestrian walkway Halta Grivita goes between Calea Grivitei and Calea Giulesti. It is not so well known, mainly because the access to it is a bit secluded and out of the way. You can access it from Calea Grivitei via the Halta Grivita Street, between Atelierele Grivita and Griro.

Atelierele Grivita (Grivita workshops) was established in 1897 for repairing the steam engines and passenger cars. Initially it was supposed to service only the Bucharest trains which were servicing the city but in time it turned into one of the most important components of the railway industry in Romania. The Grivita neighborhood was initially built around these workshops. Presently, the main customer of this company is the state railway company CFR Calatori.

The GRIRO Company, which currently produces industrial machinery for chemical industry was initially a part of the Atelierele Grivita as well. In 1961 it becomes an independent company names "Întreprinderea de utilaj Chimic Grivița Roșie" and later get the name GRIRO in 1990 when it becomes a modern company.
