This is the 11th Geocache in the “Cache to Eagle” series which highlight Eagle Service Projects by the Boy Scouts of the Chief Seattle Council. This cache is in the Thunderbird district.
Reaching the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America requires years of dedication and hard work. In addition to 21 required merit badges, each Scout must complete a project that – on average – requires 167 service hours. In 2008 alone, that translated to $16 million in service (based on the national volunteer hour value of $19.51/hr).
This cache is part of a nationwide geocaching series called “Cache to Eagle” that showcases these special contributions. A Boy Scout can find three of these "Cache to Eagle" caches to satisfy requirement 8(a) for the new Geocaching Merit Badge.
This particular Eagle Scout project was the construction of these raised garden beds adjacent to the Rainier Community Center.
