Some screwed up sheets of paper found in Orwell's waste basket suggest the master author was engaged in writing a sequel to 1984. According to the synopsis it's set in 1994, 10 years after Winston and Julia were tortured by O'Brien in Room 101. Much of the story deals with events 3 years earlier in 1991 when the Proles rose up and staged a dramatic coup sweeping Oceania's corrupt dictatorship from power. Big Brother and The Party leadership are on the run while Airstrip One and the whole of Oceania thrive under a newly elected Libertarian government. Now if only Winston could find his cigarette case all would be right with the world.
