Geocache Description:

This is the 24th geocache on the walk and is in a fantastic spot on Easdon Tor just below the trig point. The views on a clear day are gorgeous. After finding the cache head back up to the trig point and follow the wide path towards the next cache. It is best not to try and cut across anywhere due to the prolific bracken.

Whooping Rock (N50 37.545 W003 47.858) used to be a Logan stone however it no longer rocks due to some people moving it off its balance years ago. It gets its name from the noise that it used to make when it was set in motion by the wind. It is also a druidical logan stone and is thought to be an enchanted rock. There was also a local tradition when children had whooping cough that they were taken to the rock to be near the sheep in the area as it was believed being close to sheep was thought to cure it. The rock is also known as Piggie Rock.

The weather on Dartmoor can change suddenly and unexpectedly and ALL types of weather conditions can be experienced. Please ensure that you have the correct clothing and map and compass (and know how to use them). Please do NOT rely solely on your GPS.

I would like to thank the Dartmoor National Park Authority for their kind permission to place this cache, which has been placed according to their geocaching guidelines.
