Dam the Cayuga Cache Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

Cayuga Crew: After 16 years and 170+ finds I guess its time to retire on of our favorite hides and free up some space in Como Park. Its hard to see it go but I'm pretty sure any cacher who sought to hunt for it has had plenty of opportunity to do so and the required cache maintenance is not as convenient to perform as it once was. The final ammo can and one of the legs have been removed. Legs two and three are next to go. Leg one will in all likely hood remain in place as certain objects need not be dismantled.

Thanks to all who posted logs here and bestowed a favorite point upon it

Geocache Description:

Dam the Cayuga Cache is located on the grounds of Como Lake Park in Lancaster NY. 3-1-09 editedto Premiummember status only to avoid potetnial muggling.

The Dam the Cayuga Cache is the second multi cache placement for the Cayuga Crew. We called in special assistance from the Woodies Roundup boys to place this cache and thank them for it. We also wish to thank Brogan who graciously offered to archive the popular Como Park Cache to allow this rookie crew to create this cache.

This cache is a five part multi that can be accessed by using the footpaths through the park. The terrain is not difficult and no serious bushwhacking is required for most stages. The terrain is rated at 2.5 due to the length of the hike. The preferred, no mistake route is approximately 1.5 miles long. The route will take you on a relatively scenic hike around Como Park Lake and it's islands. The entire shoreline is owned by Erie County and thus accessable to the public. You may pass between private residences and the lake if you wish. Geocachers with younger children should note that the paths can be slippery and caution should be exercised at lakeside. There is no need to cross any fence or other safety devices to locate any stage of this cache. Parking is available at N42 53.690 W078 39.948. The final cache is a 30mm ammo can. We reccommend walking between all stages because it's good for you. We hope you enjoy the cache and that, for the many of you that name Brogan's Como Park Cache as one of your favorites, this cache become an acceptable substitute. Please be aware of the ever present muggles and use as much discretion as possible while retrieving and replacing cache stages.

4-26-08 Edit; The recent addition of a very popular disc golf course to Como Park will make some of the legs of this cache muggle intense areas as opposed to the remote rarely visited sites they used to be back in 2005. Be alert to flying objects as well as muggle disc golfers popping up all over the place. For the most part the disc golfers seem to be nice people and a few of them have even logged in and replaced the cache while searching for their errant shots.

**PLEASE REFRAIN FROM ASKING FOR OR PROVIDING HINTS TO ANY PARTS OF THIS CACHE TO OR FROM OTHER CACHERS. WE HERE AT CAYUGA HQ WILL HAPPILY PROVIDE HINTS WHEN THEY ARE ASKED FOR. OF COURSE WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE A DNF LOG BEFORE WE DO!***
