For this Geocaching event, I'll be at the forest preserve from 12:00 noon until 1:30pm with the logbook. You can stop by any time you want. Stay for a couple minutes or stay as long as you would like. I'll be there rain or shine, but let's hope for sunshine! If it is raining, I'll be at the nearby shelter. If you can't make this event, please get outside and do what you can to observe from wherever you are! I hope you will at least be able to safely view the sun from wherever you may be.
It is not OK to look at the Sun without some sort of filter. Vision impairment or blindness can occur. I will have some specially designed glasses so you can look at the Sun directly. If you have your own pair of solar viewing glasses, feel free to bring them along. You can also use a welding mask if the lens is a shade #14. Here is NASA's page all about safely viewing the eclipse: NASA's Eclipse 101 Safety
