Geocache Description:

I was out caching in the area recently, when I passed by this spot. Although I have been out this way many times through the years, I don’t ever remember seeing this graveyard sitting on the side of a small bluff. Of course, I had to stop and take a look around.

In western Cumberland County, lies the historic town of Springfield, home to Ambury Hill Cemetery, established in 1810. There are African-American men buried here who served during the Civil War. Two men, Edward S. and John W., served in the Colored Regiment which saw some of the bloodiest fighting of the war as it made its way across the fields of Virginia. This area is also significant as it was a station on the Underground Railroad, providing a vital link for slaves to pass through to the north and freedom. In fact, it is recorded that Harriet Tubman visited here several times.

The posted coords will take you to the Ambury Hill Cemetery. There isn't any parking here, but there is a nice wide shoulder to pull over. To solve the puzzle, locate markers for Edward S. or John W. and find what number Regiment they served in (it is the same number), and do the simple math below.

N 39° 25.0AA W 075° 20.9BB

AA= Regiment number X Two
BB= Regiment number X Three

The cache is not hidden anywhere near any of the graves or markers. You are looking for a bison tube, so you will need to bring your own pen. As always, please be respectful of the area.
