Geocache Description:

Located on the southern rim of the Brukkaros volcano along a trail from the camping site to the inner bowl. The altitude is approximately 1,300 meters or 4,200 feet, and the terrain is very rocky.

You access the mountain from the south, taking a gravel road from Tses, and passing through a gate. There is a small fee for access at the gate. There is a 4x4 trail that was built in the 1930s to the camping site that is in very bad shape, but passable for off-road vehicles. Sedans should be parked at the base of the moutain. Once you arrive at the camp grounds at S25°53.139' E17°46.897' you set out on the foot trail heading north. The path was also built in the 1930s by the Smithsonian Institute for their solar research station, and looks like it's not regularly maintained. That means good hiking shoes are essential, as is water. The cache is about 1 km from the camp grounds, and is in a grey-topped 750 ml tupperware container. It contains a water squirt gun, a sticker, a shell, pictures from Colmar, and a stuffed animal key chain. The path is occasionally covered by rocks, so be sure you hike carefully. Good luck and enjoy the beautiful scenery!
