No quarto ano do seu
reinado, o Rei Salomão começou a construir o templo. A Arca da
Aliança seria colocada na sua mais secreta sala: “Santo dos
Santos”.
Após a sua construção, o
templo foi destruído duas vezes, da segunda, para sempre. Foi nesse
estado de ruínas que Hugo de Payens, no ano 1120 o encontrou,
aquando dos seus votos monásticos de obediência, pobreza e
castidade.
Foi-lhes doado parte de um
edifício junto às ruínas do templo e seriam, a partir daí,
conhecidas como “Militias Salomonica Templi”:
Templários.
Sabendo da existência de
uma sala secreta que continha a Arca da Aliança, Hugo de Payens e
seus companheiros deram início às escavações, longe do olhar de
todos.
Após muita procura, um
segredo foi desenterrado do chão e escondido para
sempre.
Até que o Rei Filipe VI de França tomou conhecimento dele e decidiu
que seria seu. No dia 13 de Outubro de 1307 mandou prender todos os
Templários espalhados pela Europa e torturou-os a fim de saber onde
se encontrava a Arca.
Mesmo à beira da morte,
ninguém falou. Na noite anterior havia chegado a informação aos
Templários, em Jerusalém, das intenções do Rei, pelo que tinham de
fugir.
Nessa madrugada, uma
carroça cheia de feno e conduzida por dois monges foi vista a sair
da zona do Templo.
Nesse mesmo dia, o navio
Templário que se encontrava num dos portos de França desapareceu
misteriosamente.
Em Portugal, o Rei recebeu
os Templários e a Arca, jurando protecção e guarida a estes e ao
poderoso artefacto.
Uma nova Ordem foi criada
para dissimular o não cumprimento da prisão e morte de todos os
Templários: A Ordem de Cristo.
A Arca foi escondida no
Castelo de Almourol, cujo Comendador Gonçalo Velho Cabral, um
Cavaleiro da Ordem de Cristo, numa conversa com o seu amigo Infante
D. Henrique, decidiram que se teria de levar a Arca para fora do
país pelo desconhecido mar a dentro.
Várias naus cujas velas
transportavam o símbolo de Cristo zarparam do porto em direcção ao
Atlântico. Numa delas seguia a Arca da Aliança.
No ano de 1432, Gonçalo
Velho Cabral chegou a uma das ilhas que tinha as condições
necessárias para albergar tão poderoso tesouro.
Foi escolhida a ilha do
Arcanjo pela sua beleza e recônditos locais.
A Arca foi lá escondida e
decidiu-se que só aqueles de coração puro teriam acesso a ela. E
para isso teriam de passar um teste que lhes ia dar a localização
secreta da Arca da Aliança.

Salomon Temple
On the forth year of his reign, King Salomon began building
the Temple. The Ark of the Covenant would be placed in its secret
room: “Saint of the Saints”.
After being built, the temple was destroyed two times, and
the second time was forever. It was all ruins when Hugues de Payens
found it in the year 1120, when making his monastic vows of
obedience, poverty and chastity.
A building near the old temple was offered to him and his
companions and from now on they would be known as “Militas Salominica
Temple”: The Templars.
Knowing of the existence of a secret room which contained
the Ark of the Covenant, Hugues de Payens and his companions began
to dig the ruins, far away from the eye of the
locals.
After much search a secret was unburied and hidden
forever-
Until King Philip VI of France discovered it and decided it
would be his. On the 13th October 1307, he demanded that
all Templars across Europe should be arrested and tortured until
the secret was revealed.
But even as they died, no one spoke. On the previous night
the information of the King´s intentions reached the Templars in
Jerusalem and it was decided that there had to run.
At dawn, a wagon covered with hay and driven by two monks
was seeing leaving the Temple.
On that very same day, the Templar ship which was at one of
France´s harbour disappeared mysteriously.
In Portugal, the King received the Templars and the Ark,
and swore to protect and guard them and the precious
artefact.
A new order was created to dissimulate the disobedience of
exterminating the Templars: The Order of Christ.
The Ark was hidden in Almourol Castle, whose chief was
Gonçalo Velho Cabral, a knight from the Order of Christ. In a close
door conversation with his friend D. Henrique, it was decided that
the Ark should be taken out of the country, into the
sea.

Several ships whose sails had the symbol of the Order of
Christ set sail into the Atlantic Ocean.
In one of them was the Ark of the Covenant.
In the year 1432 Gonçalo Velho Cabral arrived to one island
which had the necessary attributes to hide such a
treasure.

The Isle of the Arcanjel was chosen for its beauty and
hidden locations.
The Ark was there hidden and it was
decided that only the ones of pure heart would gain access to it.
And for that they would have to pass a test which would provide
them with the location of the Ark.
