Emma has a history similar to the other ghost towns around
here (see
here). What’s interesting about this one is its cemetery. We
like wandering through cemeteries, so we’ve been to quite a few of
them in our lifetime, but Emma’s has something we’ve never seen
before. Something on a tombstone: the word ‘murdered’. Apparently
the chap buried there went before his time.
So....to claim this, email
us the name of the person who was murdered. We’ve made this a 1 1/2
star because the posted coordinates are for the historical sign,
not the grave. You have to wander through yourself and find the
marker. It’s worth the meander, because among others, twelve Civil
War veterans are buried there as well. And, at 33º 36.721N 101º
24.742W is buried the man who built the Rock
House that we’ve put in another cache.
