About this cache:The Oregon Coast Trail is a long distance hiking route along the Pacific coast of Oregon. It follows the coast of Oregon from the mouth of the Columbia River to the California border. It's an easy-to-moderate hike, of approximately 425 miles. If you were to hike the whole trail, you would hike on the beach, on paved roads, on dirt roads and on trail.
The Oregon Coast is known for its spectacular beauty, and the placement of this cache will provide you with the opportunity to hike a portion of the Oregon Coast Trail while at the same time enjoying the view of the Oregon coastline.
There is ample parking across the highway, at the indicated parking coordinates. You will need to then carefully cross the highway, to begin your 0.75 mile roundtrip hike to the cache. After crossing the highway, walk past the gate and continue along the old road. You will cross a bridge, and when you reach the fork in the trail, you will need to bear to the left. The tree cover is pretty intense along the trail, so as you begin to approach GZ, look uphill for two trees, as shown in the picture below. Behind the trees is a downed tree, in the shape of a "Y"; the cache is hidden under the "Y", about 20 feet uphill from the trail.
Although you may be temped to park and then bushwhack straight up to the cache, please do not do this! It is dangerous and it will damage the plants on the hillside.
Here is the view from GZ:
Be sure to get the numbers off the lid and take a picture if you are going for all 50 states and the grand cache at the end. For all others, just log this as a regular cache. TBs and trade items welcome.
